About the project
Somers & Hervey is a master planned residential community located in the Upper Ross region of Townsville, Queensland. The 80-hectare neighbourhood is designed to accommodate over 800 families, offering a range of lot sizes from 273 m² to 700 m².
Scope
Empower was engaged from the pre-purchase (acquisition) phase and has provided end-to-end services including master plan creation, infrastructure master planning, detailed design and documentation, management of infrastructure consultants, regulatory approvals, construction management, and handover.
The project involved developing an infill residential community within an emerging area, requiring the creation of new access points to support a new development front and enhance overall community outcomes.
Engineering challenges included flood and stormwater management, given the site’s natural topography and drainage patterns. Empower delivered innovative and cost-effective civil infrastructure solutions, ensuring functional road, drainage, and utility networks while meeting the expectations of the client, council, and future residents.
