Hinkley Point C Nuclear Power Station
About the project
Hinkley Point C is the first new nuclear build in the United Kingdom for over 30 years. The £46 billion project is a two-unit, 3,200 MWe EPR nuclear power station under construction in Somerset, England and is expected to come online in 2031.
When this project was announced, Britain’s nuclear supply chain for parts, knowledge and labour was the lowest it has been in the history of the industry.
Hinkley has facilitated a painful but necessary rebirth of nuclear construction. Supply chain growth and early learnings have meant the second reactor is being built 20–30% faster than the first.
