Fens and Lincoln Reservoirs
About the project
The Fens Reservoir will supply 87 million litres a day to 250,000 homes in the driest region of the UK and is scheduled to be completed by 2036. The Lincolnshire reservoir, would provide up to 166 million litres a day for up to 500,000 homes, is programmed to be completed by 2040.
Scope
Our team is providing Anglian Water with construction planning advice for the construction of the reservoirs, the transfer pipelines and the associated infrastructure. Working closely with Anglian Water and other consultants, we are progressing towards preparation of a successful DCO Planning Application.
In addition to construction planning advice, we are advising on project definition, contracting strategies, public consultation and project governance, drawing on experience from other major infrastructure projects.
Outcomes
These will be the first major supply reservoirs to be built in the UK in over a generation, requiring consideration of design, buildability, affordability and maintenance requirements.
Empower is assisting with the enabling environmental works, earthworks methodology, production rates, the selection of plant and equipment, logistics, traffic, noise, supply of aggregates, construction programme and geotechnical advice to inform the design.
