Transformative year for Empower as Group records $2.4 billion turnover for FY25

The BMD Group has released its FY25 Annual Review, highlighting strong performance and sustained growth across Australia, the Philippines and the United Kingdom.

The Group recorded a $2.4 billion turnover for FY25, delivering a strong increase in net profit from FY24 driven by disciplined project selection, strong commercial management and continued diversification across sectors and regions.

Empower highlights:

• Delivered efficiencies and innovations across construction and operational phases.

• Expanded into new sectors while reinforcing expertise in energy and defence.

• Unified Empower business units across Australia and the UK under a single global brand.

• Grew the advisory arm to nearly 100 employees.

FY25 was a transformative year for Empower’s operations.

Empower’s engineering services business unit in Australia consistently delivered innovative, responsive and high-value design solutions for clients and expanded into new sectors: turn-key community housing and project management of airport airside projects and shopping centre retail precincts. In the renewables sector, Empower provided significant value across multiple wind farm projects and identify this as a key growth area for the future.

In the UK, Empower’s advisory business unit grew to nearly 100 professionals who provide expert constructability, procurement, organisational and strategic advisory services. With a focus on AUKUS-related infrastructure, Empower’s portfolio grew to feature some of the UK’s largest defence, energy, transportation and water security projects, positioning the business as a trusted partner in some of the country’s most complex and high-security environments.

In March 2025, Empower’s position was strengthened within the BMD Group’s branded house through a unified brand architecture, reflecting the Group’s integrated offering through a highly connected portfolio of brands.

Empower National General Manager Matthew Beggs said the business’s close collaboration with clients and delivery partners continued to underpin its success.

“FY25 saw Empower step confidently into new sectors as the market recognised the tangible value of Empower’s unique offering,” Mr Beggs said.

“By adapting to opportunity where capability can lift program certainty and commercial performance, Empower continues to deliver meaningful outcomes for clients.”

General Manager - Empower Advisory Peter Anusas said FY25 was a particularly exciting year for the advisory business, marked by team growth and geographic diversification.

“We have energetic and highly capable teams now in both the UK and Australia who provide expert advice on high-profile defence, energy, water and transport projects, with an emerging focus on AUKUS-related infrastructure,” Mr Anusas said.

“Our clients like the fact that they can engage with us to provide all forms of early contractor advice and that we offer a fee service that ties our profit to achieving our clients’ outcomes.

“The Learn and Return program also continues to gain momentum, with plans to expand the program ‘in reverse’ in 2026, enabling UK professionals to work on our projects in Australia.”
